Self Indulgent
After several Elitlopp participants it is time to turn to the west towards the youngsters in America. One of the leading fillies over there is Self Indulgent, and this is a trotter with a remarkable pedigree. Self Indulgent is by Self Possessed who was one of the best trotters of all times and who has startat very promising as a sire. Dam is Bit O Candy, winner of World Trotting Derby Filly Stakes and third in Hambletonian Oaks. Second dam Candy Victory was also a successful trotter but she hasn't produced much more than Bit O Candy, even though Whymesswithsuccess won two races and now is a stallion in Denmark. Third dam Candy Crown is full sister to no less than Lindy's Crown and she has besides Candy Victory produced the successful full sisters Dream on Candy 1:55.2 $283,516 USD and Family Trust 1.53.3 $251,273. These are both by Victory Dream, which means they are crossed similarly as Self Indulgent, as Victory Dream is sire of Self Possessed. Candy Victory and Victory Dream are both by Valley Victory, which means Self Indulgent is inbred 3+3 to this fantastic stallion. She is probably even the first horse ever with this inbreeding cross. Earlier examples of similar kind has had Valley Victory closer and there are in fact successful results even with such crosses. Always Victorious 1:55.2 $111,308 is a multiple stakes winner and one of Mr Vic's best foals in America in spite of the severe inbreeding (mating of half siblings). Self Indulgent is from the first crop from Self Possessed and she is the first foal of her dam. The same goes for her dam Bit O Candy: from the first crop from Pine Chip and she is her dam's first foal. Victory Dream and Candy Victory are both from the Valley Victory's first crop. Of course is Self Possessed from Victory Dream's first crop too. That's a pattern of quick moves from generation to generation!
